Saxophonist Bailey Ross is currently studying under Dr. Eric Troiano at the University of Arkansas. She is a Junior Honors student majoring in Saxophone Performance and Music Education, with a thesis emphasis on “Diversity within Saxophone Repertoire”. Her first year at the University, Ross performed with Dr. Eric Troiano and Graduate Student Landon Cole as part of the trio concerto, “Hell’s Gate” by David Maslanka. For the past three years, she has been alto and baritone saxophonist for the UARK Wind Ensemble, and she remains the alto saxophonist in the MARS Quartet. Ross currently holds two years of experience on the Leadership team of the Razorback Marching Band, participating as Music and Head Section Leader. As a soloist, Bailey has competed in the 2019 Concerto Competition and plans to compete in both the MTNA Solo and Chamber Ensemble Competitions. Bailey Ross plans to pursue graduate and doctoral degrees in Saxophone Performance.
Bailey Ross is an active member of groups such as Tau Beta Sigma, a national service organization that works to promote female musicians and serve the Northwest Arkansas community. Ross is also working in pursuing a minor in Gender Studies to learn how to combat the hardships women face in a male-dominated field, as well as how gender roles have changed throughout our society and history as a country.
