Erin Rogers
Based in New York City, Erin Rogers is a Canadian-Americancomposer and saxophonist, dedicated to new and experimental music. Named a “rising star” (Broadway World), her “decidedly future oriented” music has been described as “whimsical, theatrical” (Brooklyn Vegan), “a wild ride” (An Earful), and “so complex, it’s primitive.” (Pittsburgh Post-Gazette). Her work explores the intersection of chamber music, sound alchemy, and theatre, moving freely between acoustic and electronic worlds with performances at Lincoln Center, Carnegie Hall, Elbphilharmonie Hamburg, Roulette, Centro Nacional de las Artes (Mexico City), The Knockdown Center, MATA Festival, Ecstatic Festival at Merkin Hall, Prototype Festival, Nief-Norf Summer Festival, wasteLAnd, Edmonton Fringe Festival, Resonanzraum (Germany), French Quarter Festival (New Orleans), Círculo de BellasArtes (Madrid), NyMusikk Bergen (Norway), and the World Saxophone Congress in St. Andrews, Scotland. Crossing genres from music-theatre-to-installation-to-silence, Rogers has collaborated with Orange Theatre, Panoply Performance Laboratory, Harvestworks, Experiments in Opera, Decoder, Here Arts Center, and Music for Contemplation. She has received commissions and honors from The Barlow Endowment, Library of Congress, Copland House, and the Jerome Foundation. Her music has been featured in The New York Times, The New Yorker, Musicworks magazine, and The Wire. An avid freelancer, Rogers has performed with the International Contemporary Ensemble, Talea, Wet Ink, Copland House, and wildUp. Rogers is co-artistic director of the performance ensembles: thingNY, New Thread Quartet, Hypercube, and Popebama and can be heard on New Focus Recordings, New World Records, Tonus Vivus, Edition Wandelweiser, and Gold Bolus labels. Her solo album Dawntreader was released on Relative Pitch Records in December 2019. Rogers is a D’Addario Woodwinds Artist and Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center Teaching Artist.
