Jocelyn Abrahamzon is currently pursuing her master’s in saxophone performance at Temple University where she studies with Matt Levy. Jocelyn graduated magna cum laude from James Madison University with a Bachelor of Music in saxophone performance and a minor in business. While at JMU, Jocelyn conducted a study titled “Margulis Revisited: Once More on Program Notes and Audience Enjoyment.” Her study examined the effect that different types of interpretive assistance, such as program notes and speakers, have on the ability of general education students to better appreciate and enjoy live music. Completing this study opened the door for Jocelyn’s interest in audience and community engagement. She will graduate from Temple this May and is planning to pursue a career in arts administration. Her main career goal is to look for innovative ways to encourage people who do not typically attend classical music concerts to do so. Jocelyn has completed a fellowship with the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra, had accepted a position as the Community Performance Coordinator at the Brevard Music Center this past summer (which was unfortunately cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic), and is currently working as an administrative and production assistant for the PRISM Quartet.
