CGE COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT INITIATIVE

Project Manager: Carrie Koffman
CGE Community Engagement Initiative
(formerly the CSW Community Engagement Initiative)

We have commissioned a new composition for middle school band with alto saxophone soloist. The solo part includes a level of virtuosity that is playable by professional saxophonists or advanced college students. The composer is Roshanne Etezady, composition faculty member at the University of Michigan. NASA will pay the commissioning fee. Only women+, transgender, and nonbinary NASA members will be eligible to perform the piece for the first two years. NASA members of all genders will be eligible to perform the piece in the third and fourth year. All NASA members are eligible to receive the piece for free as long as they arrange for a young band to perform the piece with them.

All NASA members will be eligible to play Negative Split beginning February 1, 2024.
