Emily Brewer
Emily Brewer (she/her) is a saxophonist and educator based in Minneapolis, Minnesota. She holds a Bachelor of Music degree from St. Norbert College and a Master of Music degree from the University of Minnesota - Twin Cities.
She has been active in various ensembles affiliated with the National Band Director Association, the College Band Directors National Association, the American Saxophone Academy, and the Minnesota Music Educators Association. Emily has also performed as a soloist and chamber musician at various North American Saxophone Alliance conferences. As an advocate for new music, she has joined commissioning projects and strives to promote underrepresented composers within the classical music realm.
Emily has received honors in competitions, such as first prize in the Richard Chandler YouTube Recording Competition, second prize in the Schubert Club Woodwind Competition.
Emily is currently pursuing a Doctor of Musical Arts degree and a Music Education Certificate at the University of Minnesota - Twin Cities. Her primary instructors have been Dr. Preston Duncan and Dr. John Salerno. As an educator, she serves as the instructor for Woodwind Techniques at the University of Minnesota and maintains a studio of private lesson students in the greater Twin Cities area. Emily’s goal as an educator is to help students realize their full potential by demonstrating equity and inclusivity.
